    Science and Research

OneWhale is comprised of a diverse blend of dedicated professionals who volunteer their time.

Our shared passion drives us on a journey of discovery, and our collective expertise continues to grow and evolve as we work toward our shared vision.

At OneWhale, our mission is to protect Hvaldimir, while we advocate for his future in the wild with other belugas, so that he is no longer lost and alone.

A Voice for Hvaldimir.

In 2019, founder and film-maker Regina Haug, extended an invitation to her friend and business partner to join her in Norway. They set out to film Hvaldimir, the famous beluga whale, for a documentary concept.

During that expedition, Krista and Regina discovered the harsh reality: Hvaldimir was displaced from his natural environment and in dire need of help.

Motivated by this revelation, the two women began advocating for Hvaldimir through social media and made heartfelt appeals to entities that they believed could help assist his situation. These early seeds of compassion and determination eventually led to the birth of OneWhale, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2022.

We're not just a team;
we're a passionate community on a mission to create a lasting impact.

We extend an open invitation to individuals who share our reverence for marine life and conservation to join us.

Whether you are a seasoned professional, a devoted advocate, or someone with a special connection to Hvaldimir, your skills and enthusiasm hold immeasurable value for us. We actively seek volunteers, board or committee members, scientific and veterinary experts ready to contribute to our cause.

Together, let's work to discover sustainable solutions that not only protect Hvaldimir but also champion the liberation of whales from captivity, returning them to the ocean where they truly belong.

Join us in amplifying Hvaldimir's voice and preserving the natural marvels of our oceans.
